WHAT WE PROVIDE
PRECISE IOM SERVICES
COMPREHENSIVE BILLING SUPPORT
In addition to monitoring services, we can provide in-house billing assistance to the hospitals with whom we work. We offer flexible billing options, provide help with billing issues, and can deliver billing assistance electronically or in hard copy.
COST SAVINGS FROM OUTSOURCING
LESS RISK, MORE REWARD
We understand that hospitals and surgeons alike face costly burdens that can negatively impact their ability to provide top-notch patient care. We strive to provide outsourced cost saving options that help hospitals maximize returns, especially in fee-for-service pricing cases when insurance providers don’t provide reimbursement.
National Neuromonitoring alleviates burdens brought on by employee training needs, equipment purchases, and liability issues. Our technologists are thoroughly trained in the use and maintenance of IOM equipment, and each of our IOM employees carries their own medical malpractice insurance for added legal protection.
We also offer a complete range of hospital consulting services ranging from contract structuring to billing review that help hospitals improve patient services and save money.
No two hospitals are the same, so we don’t expect the same contractual arrangement to meet every given hospital’s unique needs. To ensure optimal contractual terms and conditions, every contract we help with is designed to suit the payer mix and volume of patients needing IOM.
IMPROVED PATIENT PROTECTION
The downstream benefits of IOM reach from hospital to physician to patient. The advantages are palpable: decreased patient liability, abbreviated patient stays, reduced hospital costs, and fewer medical and legal issues. IOM can be a powerful force in helping to reduce hospital risk and improve patient outcomes.
TRAINING & CERTIFICATION
Every member of our IOM team is trained to the most exacting standards so we’re able to offer patients the highest quality care. To comply with all hospital protocols and guidelines, our staff training regimen includes basic life support (from our in-house AHA certified instructors), HIPAA training, blood borne pathogen policies and procedures, and OSHA and needle safety training. We use ASET, ACNS, and ASNM as guidelines in setting standards for performance, competencies, and quality of care provided.
FELLOWSHIP TRAINING PROGRAM
Our 21-week long fellowship program is led by experienced technicians and includes in-depth instruction in neurophysiology, anatomy and physiology, anesthesia/neuro anesthesia pharmacology, as well as operating room shadowing of spine, orthopedic, neurosurgical, ENT and vascular surgical procedures.
Following the six-month training period, fellows continue with daily surgical field training, hands-on patient care, physician interaction, x-ray film instruction on anatomical landmarks/anomalies, hospital rounding, clinical rotations, and CNIM License Board review sessions.
Each fellow also takes part in clinical mentoring proctored by technologists who hold advanced degrees. Our fellowship program fully prepares each fellow for the national certification examination.
Leading the Way in Establishing IOM as a Standard of Care
Our utmost concern is mitigating surgical risk and improving patient outcomes. Our experienced neuromonitoring team helps manage surgical risk by carefully monitoring neurological function during surgery. Following each case, a detailed case report is dictated and added to our electronic record system.
UNEQUALED CARE, UNMATCHED CONTROL
- A pre-operative review of pre-existing conditions, analysis of contraindications, and check of gross motor skills helps ensure the best care is delivered based on individual patient needs
- Post-operative neurological function checks, collection of metrics not commonly aggregated by other IOM providers, and post-operative case audits ensure all the right data is gathered
- The data we collect after surgery helps physicians assess long-term post-operative outcomes and lessens the likelihood of downstream re-admissions
- Reports we generate, encrypt, and send to hospitals become part of patients’ records
- We maintain audit trails for all our integrated data and calibrate our equipment quarterly, helping to ensure the highest standards of accuracy
SURE, WE DO THAT, TOO…
CONFIDENCE IN COMMUNICATION
We strive to develop and maintain a positive rapport with each surgeon, typified by our goal to promote consistency in the OR by assigning technologists familiar to the surgical team. We also work hard to keep lines of communication open with the surgical team at various points during a procedure, even when nothing is wrong.
ALIGNED WITH THE GOALS OF MODERN HEALTHCARE
As an emerging standard of care, IOM is increasingly recognized as sound medicine. In addition to helping mitigate risk and improve surgical outcomes, IOM helps physicians and hospitals address healthcare’s “Triple Aim” by playing an active role in improving the experience of care for patients, improving the general health of populations, and reducing the per capita costs of healthcare. IOM provides another valuable tool that enables healthcare providers to focus on cost, quality, and care.
